MA Research

I am currently studying for my Masters Degree in Photography at Falmouth University.

My current research is around telling the stories of smaller, marginalised groups in society and promoting acceptance and love towards one another.

I am interested in:

  • capturing acts of kindness which improve the lives if others;
  • telling the stories of those with disabilities and/or mental health illness;
  • visualising the struggles of those who have suffered abuse, illness or loss.

The Nguni word, Ubuntu, is often understood to mean "I am because we are". Its literal meaning is "the quality of being human". It is an African phrase which implies that we are the successes we are because of the support we have from the people we surround ourselves with. It is this act of humanity which should be celebrated and that I strive to capture in my work.

Please get in touch if you would like to be involved with my research. Some of my practice is creating still life scenes based on stories I come across and other parts of my practice is around capturing the details necessary to visualise a story.
